Q:  how are the Knock Out Grooves libraries organized?
A:   the libraries were designed to be intuitive for use by songwriters and producers.  a library consists of approximately 10-14 songs, each representing a particular drum pattern.  the song is comprised of multiple loop sections such as verse 1, verse 2, chorus 1, chorus 2, fills, bridge, breakdown, outro, etc.  the verse and chorus sections each have subtle( and sometimes not so subtle…) differences that allow the song to grow without sounding repetitive.  The best studio drummers know how to develop a performance much like a songwriter develops a song.  it keeps the listener engaged and interested….and can be the difference between a good song and a great song.

Q:  are the beats and grooves royalty free?
A:  yes, as a purchaser of a Knock Out Grooves library you can use them in any musical composition, soundtrack, remix or any other type of recording or live performance completely royalty free.  we’d love to hear what you’re creating so send us an mp3….we may post it on our site or myspace page.

Q:  if I purchase a library in one format, can I get it for free in any other format?
A:  we’d be able to do that if we just remapped the midi notes like many companies do.  instead, we meticulously edit each library to best utilize the nuances, velocity curves and other parameters unique to each format.  there are format conversion utilities on the market and you’re welcome to use them if you’d like…but we’re certain you’ll get much better results using the library specifically created for the software you use.

Q:   why are there multiple libraries available for the same genres-such as Rock and Pop?
A:   because not only are there an infinite number of grooves for a genre, every drummer plays them differently.  some drummers have more funk in their groove, some push the beat forward and some lay back behind the beat.  the availability of multiple drummers gives you the ability to find just the right performance and feel for your music.

Q:  will there be more Knock Out Grooves libraries in the future?
A:  absolutely!  we’re creating more right now.  

Q:  why is the product download only?
A:  two reasons.  firstly, the professionals that tested the initial product raved about the speed of the download and install process.  basically, they said that when they needed a product such as Knock Out Grooves …they wanted it right now!  Our libraries can be purchased, downloaded and installed in much less time than it would take for you to drive to a music retailer. Secondly, from an environmental standpoint, every CD we don’t burn, every box we don’t ship and all the fuel we don’t use getting the product to you is a small step towards making the world a better place.
